DAFFODIL DAY.

At a meeting of the Daffodil Day Committee, held at Y.M.C.A., Mrs Taylor presided, and explained that the day was to be held in aid of the funds for the Cheche and Kindergarten work. Owing to increased demands for accommodation, it ha<l been decided to build a new school at I'hillipstown. The pre-sent-rented hall was quite unsuitable Members present expressed their willingness to help and make the day a success. Mrs Taylor said that since the first meeting- to discuss arrangements for holding Daffodil Day, she regretted to say that their vice-president, Mrs Nicholls, had become indisposed, and Mrs Beadel had suffered bereavement. Neither of these ladies would therefore be-'able to help. The secretary said sh-3 had obtained permission from the Dean of Christchureh to have the children of the three schools gathered at to foot of the Godley Statue where they would salute the flag and sing the National Anthem. There would be a 'Knick-knack Stair'; the articles of this stall would be the work of girls from both the public and private schools. Letters had been received from teachers in response to the request for fancy articles, and so far only two refusals had been received, one on account* of work for the Red Cross, the other from a school which was organising a sale of work. The following ladies undertook to hold the stalls: Mrs Peppier, cake stall; Mesdanies G. E. Rhodes, Perry and Kellawny, flower stall; Mesdanies Morton and Bristol, /lower stall: Mesdanies Tobin and Berry, (lower stall; Misses Reeves and H. Tabart and Mrs Bums, work stall; Mrs Anderson, llower stall; -Mrs llastie, flower stall; Mesdanies England, Stocks an 1 Bingham, "Knick-nack" stall.
