Australian and N.Z. Cahlr Association. (Rec. June 22, 9.35) LONDON, June 21. The Naval records since the outbreak of the war show that a large number of officers on the retired list offered their services to the Admiralty, including some 20 admirals, when the needs of the country appealed to them. These officers* took lower rank than they had previously enjoyed, finding work as temporary captains in the naval reserve aboard patrols or minesweepers.
Six Admirals who so rejoined have already gained the Distinguished Service Order, two at least receiving the distinction for sinking enemy submarines.
