SHIPPING PROSPECTS.

A GLOOMY OUTLOOK. That the overseas shipping prospects arc not promising is the opinion of Mr A. W. Bennett, as given by him to a reporter. Mr Bennett is a member of the Overseas Shipping Committee and general manager of the ; New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd. Mr Bennett stated that this month's ailablo freight space was not large, n the spring of last year a considerable quantity of insulated tonnage was utilised from Australia, but there was little chance of this again eventuating, as some of the Australian stores even now were full of meat, whilst the season over there was earlier than here. As to produce here, less than half of last; season's wool clip had been got away, although usually .June Faw the stores practically cleared. In the North Island the new clip would begin to come forward in October. Storage here was a problem, as fceh cost of the election of new buildings was prohibitive. A greater -difficulty existed with frozen meat, if the stores became filled, as insulated space was necessary.
