FRENCH RELIEF FUND.

GOVERNMENT APPROVAL. The Minister of Internal Affairs, who is at present in Christchureh, telegraphed to the Mayor of Wellington, to-day, stating that after consultation with the Acting-Prime Minister, it had been decided that the establishment of a fund for French relief nvould; be approved. Mr Russell added, in his telegram, that he hoped a strong and representative committee would lie established, and that the response would he an adequate expression of appreciation of the heroism and sacrifices of our brave Ally.
