TERRITORIAL OFFICERS.
APPOINTMENT TO STAFF. I CONDITIONS TO BE AMENDED. [Special to The Sun.] WELLINGTON, June 19. The conditions governing the appointment of Territorial officers to •positions on the New Zealand Stall' are about to be amended. The district staffs, which in normal times would he composed of Stall' Corps officers, arc at present made up to a large extent of Territorial officers temporarily employed—many of them officers who have seen service in the present war. Promotion in the Territorial Army has been rapid during the war, owing to casualties at the front and other factors, and it has been found that some Territorial officers engaged in staff work l have claimed higher pay and status on account of Territorial promotion, although the work they are actually performing remains unaltered. These officers may not be qualified to perform staff work in their higher rank. It has been decided, therefore, that Territorial officers selected for staff work in New Zealand are to be seconded from their Territorial units with the rank and seniority they then hold. Promotion in their Territorial rank will not be interfered with, but will not affect their Staff rank. These officers may receive temporary promotion in the Staff Corps while seconded.
