SOLDIER SACRIFICES HIMSELF. (A. & N'.Z.) LONDON, June 18. An inquest at Southampton revealed the fact that Lance-Corporal Ernest Poole, of Sydney, dived from a breakwater in France in order to .save a child, lie was too modest to mention this fact. When taken to the hospital he was suffering from a dislocation of the spine and bronchitis, ms a result of the dive. The jury expressed admiration at Lance-Corporal Poole's gallantry.
