POSTHUMOUS AWARDS.

PRESENTATION AT AUCKLAND. Pren« Asxociatinn. AUCKLAND, June 19. The Governor-General to-night presented posthumous awards fo the relatives of deceased recipients. I'rior lo the presentation, a parade of Territorials and Cadets was held, his Excellency reviewing a muster of 2GOO. The awards were as follow: —■ Victoria Cross: Lieut.-Commander William Edward Banders, R.N.K. (E. 11. Sanders, Takapuna, father), in recognition of conspicuous gallantry, consummate coolness, and skill in command of one of H.M. ships in action. Military Cross: Captain Arthur Charles Hubbard, Auckland Regiment (Mrs E. A. Hubbard, Paeroa, mother), for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He displayed great courage iu initiative iu leading his company in an assault on tho enemy front-line. Later he was largely instrumental in rescuing several wounded men. Distinguished Service Cross: FlightLieutenant T. G. Culling (T. S. Culling, Rcmuera, father), in recognition of services on April 23, 1917, when, with two Other machines, he engaged a formation of nine hostile scouts, and two twoseater machines were shot down, one by Culling, unassisted. Military Medal: Corporal R. Myers (Thomas Myers, Baiiganui, brother;, for conspicuous bravery on the field.
