A better average of quality than w T as represented in the beef section is unusual at the Addington market, whilst the number penned was large, approximating between 350 and 400. A wide range of quality was represented in the dairy cow section, the yarding itself being slightly larger than usual. Although there was a fair percentage of inferior sorts, the bulk was of a useful class. STORE CATTLE.

Taken all round, the penning of store cattle was slightly better than usual, some fairly large lines being yarded. The entry itself was larger also. There were some nice yearlings penned, but in indifferent condition, and some good stamps of 18-month-olds. The Chatham Islands sent forward some very roughish lines, whilst there were also some southern cattle. Old bad colour cattle and miscellaneous types of cows were prominent. VEALEES. Vealers were in shorter supply than

usual, but a fair diversity in quality resulted. Well-grown animals were relatively few in number, but the quality on the whole was satisfactory. FAT PIGS. The fat pig market showed a further easing.
