The small steamer Karu, which put back to port early yesterday morning, on account t»f the strong south-easterly gale and heavy seas that prevailed off the Peninsula, sailed for Mussel Beach later in the afternoon. The Orepuki was to have left Greymouth last evening for Lyttelton with a full cargo «f timber. The Hinemoa left Wellington last evening on her periodical round trip to the northern lighthouses. When in the Hauraki Gulf a buoy will be placed over Maori Rock, where the beacon has been carried svway. The Hinemoa will be back in Wellington in about a month or five weeks.
