A circular letter has been sent by the Peace Council to various Labour and other organisations in Christchurch in reference to the projected visit of Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward to Great Britain to take part with the British Cabinet in the discussion of war aims and possibly consider terms of peace. In view of the resolutions passed by various local bodies dealing with the possible peace terms, the council feels strongly that a conference should be held of all Labour and progressive associations to consider Labour's ideals in this respect, so that Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward may have a knowledge of their feeling on the matter. At a meeting of the Plumbers' and Gasfitters' Union last evening it was decided to take no action in the matter in view of the unsettled state of matters in Europe. At a meeting of the Gasworkers' Union it was decided to appoint two delegates to attend the conference.
