THE LIGHT-WEIGHT SHIELD. The presentation of the Rugby Union's Light-weight Shield to the Marist Bros.' team, who are the first winners, was made on Wednesday afternoon by the secretary of the union, Mr C. W. Hervey. In the course of his speech, Mr Hervey promised to give a trophy to the most improved player in each of the Marist Bros.' teams at the end of the ensuing season. The presentation was acknowledged by Brother Palladius, who also thanked Mr Hervey for his offer. HORNBY LEAGUE CLUB. The members of the Hornby Rugby League Club met in the Druids' Hall, Hornby, on Wednesday evening, Mr L, J. Mullaney presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr J. Lesile; president, Mr H. F. Nicol; vicepresidents, Messrs J. Hooper, W. Mctarlane, W. H. Manhire, J. Burt, J. Bryce, M. Evans, J. Wallace, H. Voss, T. Woodliam, \\. Worsley, N. Hillary, G. Witty, J. Kenworthy, C. Manhire, J. Tisch, P. Lennox, H. Kebny, —. McNab, B. Jardcn, and F. Ward; club captain, Mr L. J. Mullaney; deputy club captain, Mr A. Spicer; secretary, Mr F. Winter; treasurer, Mr W. Cole; delegates to Centre, Messrs F. Winter, A. Bench, and L. J. Mullaney; selectors, Messrs J. Kenworthy, A. Spicer, and F. Winter. Over 20 new members were elected. It was decided to enter a senior, junior and a president's team in the competitions. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, April 13. The matter of the adoption of an insurance scheme for members was fully considered, and was favourably received by members.
