RAILWAY INQUIRY.
TO COMMENCE ON APRIL 15. In regard to the representations made by Canterbury business men to Mr E. H. Hiley, General Manager of New Zealand Railways, concerning grievances in connection with the administration of railways in Canterbury, Mr Hiley stated ye '«rday that Mr riper, assistant chief >ffic manager, would arrive in Christ church about April 1.1 to undertake the inquiry which had been promised. Mr Piper would have been in Christchurch this week but for the intervention of the Easter holidavs. Mr Hiley said that he had communicated with the Chamber of Commerce, Harbour Board, Coal Importers' Association, and the Mayor, asking them to introduce to Mr Piper anybody who would be able to give information. Other persons desiring to give information should communicate with Mr Piper, who would also make such other inquiries as he thought necessary. It was uot intended to open the inquiry to the Press, but Mr Piper would report to him when it was concluded.
