THE RIMUTAKA MARCH.

Cl MEN’S FINE SHOWING. [Special to The Sun.] WELLINGTON, March 14. The march of the 36th Infantry Reinforcement across the Rimutakas, completed to-day, was an interesting test of the work of the Cl camp. D Company consisted mostly of men from the Cl Camp, men, that is, who had been declared unlit for active service, who had been sent later into the special camp, and who had attained there the health and fitness necessary to qualify them for transfer to the ordinary reinforcement camps. The reinforcement spent two nights in the open, did some very heavy marching, and manoeuvring, and reached Trenthara this morning. Only six men had fallen out during the two days and of these only one belonged to D Company. The ex-Cl men naturally were proud of their performance. When the place of the next conference of the Victoria League was being discussed towards the eud of to-day’s proceedings, Auckland delegates insisted that it should be held in the northern city. A Christchurch lady, who is also a delegate to the conference, immediately requested that the conference should be held late in the season, when the mosquitoes had all gone to sea. The chairman, Mr W. J. Napier, said that there were only two mosquitoes in Auckland, and he had them at his place at Devonport. Another lady delegate, hailing from the south, showed her fear of the Auckland sunqner by suggesting that the conference 'be held in the autumn, as they would be all too exhausted to take part in discussions during the summer, A compromise was arrived at, whetT it was decided to hold the conference in April.
