The discovery of a derelict enemy mine on the coast of the Great Barrier Island is a disturbing incident, but i! does not appear to be regarded officially as evidence that a second raider has been in New Zealand waters. The presence of mines in the northern waters of the Dominion has been suspected for some time, and the necessary precautions have been taken. The mine, which had a short length of steel hawser with a broken end attached, may have drifted __ a tong distance. It was found on the outer and not the inner coast of the Great Barrier Island. -
