HALSWELL BRANCH. The g.neral meeting of the Halswell branch of the lied Cross Society was held In the public Hall on Tuesday, October ::o. Mr I:. Paterson presided over a large attendance. The report and balance-sheet, showing a satisfactory year's working, there being an increase in the cash receipts' and a total of 1.-,.5.-,.H articles made, were adopted. The following ollicers were elected for the ensuing year:- President. Mr K. Pater. son: vice president. Mr M. Ifo.lgen; tren surer Red Cross branch, Mrs I. I". Ferguson; treasurer patriotic branch. Mrs I. Murray; secretary, Mr \V. Gardiner; auditor. Mr P. Watson; committee, Mesdanics Murray, Ilodgen. Park. Kelly, Paterson. and Ouiuev, Misses Mitchell, EH, D. Nottingham, and Weir. Rev. C. C. Oldham, and Messrs Oubridue, Brandon, and Winter. When the business of the meeting was concluded. a social was held, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Musical items were contributed bv Miss D. Nottingham, und Messrs P. Angus, A. Hunnibell. ami W. Smith. • Supper was provided by the ladies on the committee.
