RANGIORA SHOW.
The following appeared in yesterday's second edition only:-
A SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR. Thut the country show is not losing in popularity was evidenced at Rangiora yesterday, the annual function .of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association being a decided success. It is over fifty years now since the inception of the fixture, but its record is one of stead)’ growth and success. True, it has sustained a check, as has been the case with ! kindred shows, during the war, but tins has been only slight. The en-j tries to-day show a satisfactory in-! crease from last year in the case of sheep, horses, and cattle. There has been a decline, however, in the entries of produce, manufactures, etc., and this fact is responsible, for the total entries showing a IdUing-oiT, of 102, as compared with the previous show. The total entries this j year arc 725. As the day progressed the grounds were thronged with plea-sure-seekers, there being many visitors from town. Side-shows and raffles in aid of the patriotic funds did good business, and a surprise j packet scheme with prizes ranging from soap to sheep created exlraor-] dinary interest. A feature of the show was a trade display in which many well-known firms exhibited a comprehensive selection of their goods and products. The proceedings of the dav were enlivened by the presence of the Rangiora Band. The following is the prize list;— HORSES. DRAUGHT STOCK.
