■ ! FIGURES FOR SEPTEMBER QUARTER. Pre.*)/ Association. WELLINGTON, November 1. A statement of receipts and expenditure of the Consolidated Fund for the September quarter, which appears in the "Gazette," indicates a falling-off in revenue of a little under £200,000, while the expenditure under permanent and annual appropriations has decreased bv £187,.'180. A special sum of £128,362 for the purchase of wheat appears in the expenditure for the 1017 quarter. With this added the total expenditure is some £60,000 below that of the cor- . responding quarter of 1916. The total expenditure under permanent and annual appropriations was £3,101,589, against £3,288,977. Interest and sinking fund shows an increase from £463,405 to £508,453, and war pensions an increase from £39,237 to £105,383. A statement of receipts ami expenditure under the war expenses account shows that a sum of £10,449.000, loan moneys, was received during the quarter. The expenditure for war purposes was £2,914,785, against £3,446,464 for _ the corresponding quarter of 1916. The Minister of Customs advises that i the amount of Customs revenue collect- " ed in October was £277,956, and excise and beer duty £23,552. The figures for October, 1916, were £334,334 and £15,710 respectively.
