RANGIORA SHOW.

THE CONCLUSION. Althouj.il, perhaps, from the point of I view of the number of entries, the nn- | nual show of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association may not stand | full comparison with several other I country fixtures, as far as regards the j high standard of exhibits, if is second I to none, whilst it always ensures a large .attendance of the public. Yesterday's function, held in the Rangiora Show Grounds, was no exception to the general rule, and, the weather clearing in the afternoon, the grounds were thronged by a large crowd of pleasure-seekers, who included many visitors from Christchurch. A feature was the "surprise packet" scheme, which, under the control of Mr .1. R. 1). Johns, was a huge success. Many valuable prizes were given. Provision was made for the sale of 12,1101) tickets. The, proceeds are in aid of the Lady Liverpool, Navy I League, Y.M.C.A.. and Red Cross ; funds. Especial interest usually attaches itself to the show by reason of the fact that as many of the stock entries make their appearance at the metropolitan fixture the uext week, a fair indication ;is given of the quality then coining forI ward and the likely results. Tu this i respect the main feature of the sheep .lasses was the splendid selection of I Corriedales forwarded by Mr C. 11. EnI sor, which were of outstanding quality, and, in the ease of many of the hoggets shown, demonstrated the advance made in the breeding of this class. Most of the other long-woolled classes, however, were not outstanding, and show condition was sometimes capable of improvement. The Shropshire and Down classes contained an excellent entry from the studs of Messrs Johns Bros. Some Shropshire-Corriedale crosses entered by Mr 11. Winter, as being suitable for butchers' requirements, were in perfect condition. In the horse sections interest chiefly centred in competition for the Mcintosh Memorial Cup, which is valued at 50 guineas. Mr Neil Cook's dk br Rubv Blacon secured the honour, with -Mr B. E. Jenkins's in. Bold Record second. The third Champion prize of a £2O trophv was won by Mr E. K. Jenkins's Bold' Record, Mr J. D. Wyllie's .Daisy Crest being second. Home splendid animals were shown in the classes for dry mares and three-year-old fillies. The cattle section was good, especially in the Shorthorn classes In addition to the prize-list published yesterday, the following awards were male: HORSES.
