SWIMMING.

———— % WHARENUI CLUB. The annual meeting of m embers of the Wharenui Amateur Swimming Club was held last evening, Mr Tillyshort presiding. The annual report stated that the club started the season with 10 members and at the conclusion there were 70. The season proved most favourable from a swimming viewpoint, and two very successful carnivals were held. There were VI names on the roll of honour. During the season four members of the club passed the test of the Royal Life-saving Society. In all over £lO had been paid by the club to the funds of the school committee. The report was adopted. A vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of members who had fallen in action. Ollicers were elected as follow:—Patron, Sir Geo. Clifford; president, Air Geo. Witty, M.P.; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr \'. Locke; hon. auditor, Mr T. J. Stokes; committee, Messrs Weir, Turner, Symister, Collinder, Tillyshort, Hell, and McCullough; delegates to the Canterbury Centre, Mr C. ISoyd and the secretary; captain, Mr C. Boyd. It was decided to affiliate with the Canterbury Centre. It was decided that the season be opened on Saturday next. i
