Rifleman Leslie McCausi land, was wounded in the left hand on [[October 13. Rifleman McCausland, who is 22 years of age, enlisted in the 18th ■ Reinforcement. He was educated at * the West Christchurch School, and previous to enlistment was employed by Mr Venables, of Moorhouse Avenue. [ Sergt. B. S. K. Cox, killed in action in , France on October 4, was a son of the '. late Mr F. A. D. Cox, of "Te Awatea," Chatham Islands. He left New Zealand . with the 12th Reinforcement, and, after , being for some time in Egypt, was transferred to Sling Camp, where he re- | mained for eight or nine months as ■ musketry instructor, leaving for France ( in August last. I Sergt.-Major James Pouglas Lindsay i was killed in action in France on Sep- ■ tember 29. He was the third son of the I late Frederick Lindsay, of Lytteltou, > and brother of Mr C. E. Lindsay, farmer, Fernside, and Mr W. T. Lindsay, i county clerk, Waikari. He served in ■ the South African war, in the sth Contingent, also in the 9th as regimental '■ quartermaster-sergeant. When the prc- . sent war broke out, he was surveying : in the Northern Territory of Australia. > He immediately enlisted, and was in the i historic landing at Gallipoli with the Ist Australian Brigade. He was invalided hime, when he again enlisted. For some time he acted as drill instruei tor in the Australian Army. Sergt.Major Lindsay was unmarried. Mr James Cunningham, of Sydenham, has received word that his son, Sergt. J. H. Cunningham, Otago Infantry, died of wounds on October 14. Sergt. Cunningham enlisted with the Main Body, \ but, owing to a slight illness, sailed with the 2nd Reinforcement. He was ! educated at the Oamaru South School anil Waitaki High School, where he entered keenly into all sports. On ' leaving school he played football for Oamaru Old Boys, and then for the League code in Christchurch. Sergt. ' Cunningham was a member of the old North Otago Mounted Rifles. On the advent of the Territorial scheme, he became a member of B Squadron, sth Regiment 0.H., where he became a sergeant. Being in Christchurch at the outbreak of war, he at once resigned ' his position in T. Armstrong and Co., [ and joined his old regiment, with which he saw service on Gallipoli, and later [ transferred to the Infantry Expcditiou- : ary Force for France. He was awarded the Military Medal recently.
