BUILDING AND LAND SOCIETY.
» ANNUAL MEETING. The forty-fourth annual meeting of shareholders of the Christchurch Building and Land Society (Permanent) was held on Tuesday afternoon, the chairman, Mr Henry Allison, presiding. The annual report stated that, considering the still unsettled state of affairs, the business for the year had been satisfactory. The board recommended payment of inter- ' est on "A" capital shares at 7 per centum per annum, and that the same rate be I added to "B" subscription shares, interest I at 4i per centum per annum to be added I to "D" subscription shares in accordance I with rule 51. There would remain a balI j nne'e to credit of profit and loss of £599 19/7 I to carry forward. Applications for fresh issues of "B" and "1>" suhscription shares I would be received up to November 30 next I in the proportion of one "B" to two "D" ; shares, the monthly subscription thereon ! being 5/- per share. II The chairman moved the adoption of the j report and balance-sheet, and expressed ' | satisfaction at the year's working. i ] The motion was seconded by Mr T. S. i I Foster and carried. Messrs S. Bullock and H. S. Richards, I who retired ill rotation from the board of directors, were re-elected. Messrs R. C. Bishop and H. A. Bruce were re-elected auditors.
