BUILDING AND LAND SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING^ The forty-fourth annual meeting of shareholders ol' the Christchurch Building sind Land Society (Permanent) was held yesterday afternoon, the chairman, Mr Henry Allison, presiding. The annual report stated tiiat, considering the still unsettled state of affairs, the business for the year had been satisfactory. The hoard recommended payment «f interest on "A" capital shares at 7 per centum per annum, and that the same rate he added to "B" suhscription shares, interest at IJ per centum per annum to he added to "D" subscription shares in accordance with rule 51. There would remain a balance to credit of profit and loss of (;.">';:» 1!) "1 to carry forward. Applications for fresh issues'of '•!{" and "D" subscription shares would he received up to November M next in the proportion of one "11" to two "D" shares, the monthly subscription thereon being 5/- per share. The chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, and expressed satisfaction at the year's working. The motion was seconded by Mr T. S. Foster and carried. Messrs S. Bullock and H. S. Richards, who retired in rotation from the board of directors, were re-elected. Messrs It. C. Bishop and If. A. Bruce were re-elected auditors.
