SUCCESSFUL DESTROYER AFFAIR OFF BELGIAN COAST.
(A. & N.Z. & Eeuter.) (Eec. Oct. 30, 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 29. The Admiralty reports:—Six British and French destroyers that were patrolling-the Belgian coast on Saturday attacked three German destroyers and 17 aeroplanes, and obtained two direct hits on enemy destroyers, which immediately retired to the protection of their land batteries. Our anti-aircraft gun fire broke the aeroplane formation. The aeroplanes each dropped three bombs in the vicinity of our vessels, but no damage was done. Two men were slightly wounded.
