e MONTHLY MEETING. The Christchurch Fire Board metlast evening, there being present: The; Mayor, Mr H. Holland (chairman), and j Messrs .1. F. Gricrsbn, A. Williams, F. Purgoyne, 11. R. Rusbridge, A. P. Hopkins, and G. Kerruish. The superintendent reported that five calls had been received since dune 16. Two move permanent staff men had! been called up in the ninth ballot, inak- j ing a total of 32 men who had either! enlisted or resigned from the brigade I in order to join the reinforcements. In j addition two others had been rejected.] The brigade at present was chiefly staffed by married men, with a few single men returned from the front.
