BOWLING.

THE BECKENHAM CLUB. A meeting was held in Peek's Hall. Beekenliani last evening, Mr,E. C. Chegwin presiding, to elect permanent officers for the newlv-forined Beckenham Bowling Club. The club wos formed on November 7, 1917. when a provisionary committee was set up to manage its affairs, and until last night no further arrangements had been made. Last evening's meeting was the first general meeting of members. Mr A. W. Charleson, on behalf of the provisionary committee, read a report giving the history of the club. The idea of forming a club had been taken up enthusiastically, and the club now bad a green in Western Terrace, where previously there had been a rubbish pit. The land bad been leased from the City Council on favourable terms. The committee considered the finances of the club to be in a very satisfactory condition under the circumstances, there, being an outstanding debit balance of £7O. The chairman said that the conversion of the site of the old pit into a green gave every promise of turning out successfully. 11 was intended to open the green for play early in the forthcoming season, and it was hoped that it would be ready by November. The following officers were elected:— Patron, the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. Holland); president, Mr E. C, Chegwin; vice-president, Mr G. ''■lrinack; hon. secretary, Mr N. Lover; lion, treasurer, Mr A. Maiihirc; management committee, Messrs A. M. Robertson, Thompson, G. A. Blackmore, and C. Derreti; him. auditor, Mr R. Maddren. It was decided to affiliate with the Christchurch Rowling Centre. •
