BABY HOSPITAL SCHEME.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE

A meeting of the committee in connection with the Baby Hospital scheme was held at noon to-dav, Mr P. L. Hallenstein in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The 'chairman slated that a slight misunderstanding had occurred in connection with the seals for l)r Truby King's lectures during "Baby Week." He explained that a limited number of scats would be reserved, tickets for which would be sold al 1/- each. The rest of the seals would be free, hul for those wishing to make sure of their accommodation, these tickets would be sold. It was decided that the ladies having charge of tables during "Baby Week" he instructed to lake .subscriptions for the hospital and to give the appropriate badge to donors, also to ask donors whether they will, in addition, become members of the society, further, thai the subscriptions collected under the first suggestion he credited lo the hospital fund, and ihe remainder to the general funds. Mr Donaldson reported that in addition to the names already published the following had each donated £25 each:—Win. McMillan, A. R. Fleming, E. J. Stead, Mrs Richard Bclhell, Mrs G. Armstrong and Mr E. Lelievre. This left 13 sums of £25 each wanted to make up the fourth thousand. Mrs Bloxam agreed to allow another week for its completion, she having in Ihe first place promised the 40th £25, provided that ?,') similar sums were received by to-day. Several other small sums had been received, —£50 from the D.1.C., £5 5/- from Massey-Harris, and £3 3/- from Petersons, Ltd. It was decided to open the public subscription list to-morrow. Mrs Godby reported having met Mrs Acton-Adams, of Tipapa, who had offered to collect in the Tipana district, this offer being gratefully accepted. Various members reported results of country canvassing, very satisfactory responses having been received. A sum of £ls was received from an anonymous donor, and a meeting at New Brighton had been held, at which £G (5/- was collected in the room. It was resolved that the "Baby Afternoon" be held in the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, July 4.
