ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.

MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the General Committee of the St. John Ambulance Association was held Inst evening, Mr A. PL G. Rhodes presiding. The chairman announced that the collection on Ambulance Day constituted a record, and the fact would strengthen the hands of all connected with the organisation, lie moved a hearty vote of thanks to all who had assisted. The resolution was carried unanimously, and it was decided to forward a letter of thanks to each member of the Nursing Division. The secretary stated that the donations towards the motor ambulance to date totalled £4OO. The chairman said that Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes desired to contribute £SO towards the purchase price, and he would the committee could use as it thought best. It was resolved that, a committee consisting of Dr Louisson, Lieut-Colonel Croswell and a representative of the Canterbury Jockey Club should select the type of car, and have power to act. It was decided to solicit further subscriptions through the newspapers, and to announce those already received. It was resolved to communicate with the Hospital authorities concerning complaints received as to delay occurring on arrival of patients at the hospital. The chairman was appointed to represent the council on the N.Z. Red Cross Society, and the Order of St. John. It was also decided to recommend the following for recognition by the Grand Priory of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in England for services rendered:—Frances W. Thompson, John Maunder, Frank Grousky, Edward G. Bennett, -Major Teichelmann, Mabel E. Wood, Florence A. Thompson, Kate E. O'Sullivan, Kate Oarley, Margary Freitas Heenan, Eileen Fergusson and James Fitzsimmons. The balance-sheet presented showed receipts amounting to £558 0/10, and expenditure £ll7 16/8. There was a credit at the bank amounting to £540 4/2. The credit to General Funds was £144 11/2, and to the Motor Ambulance Fund £l5O.
