The responsibility lay with you to prove to the Government Statistician that you hail offered your services and you have not informed him. The Defence Department does not undertake to inform the Statisticians' Department of every enlistment, but a star will be placed opposite the name of every man who takes the trouble to forward evidence of his enlistment. This has been explained time and time again, but after every ballot there is a crop of complaints from men who accuse the Defence Department of falling to do what it has never undertaken to do.
