THE BRITISH CAPTURE OF BAGDAD.

The above map shows the country north of Bagdad, the all-important centre of which is Mosul, 220 miles up the Tigris. The Russians in Persia are approaching westward towards the Mosul road, their present base of operations^being the recently-captured Hamadan, which is 270 miles east of Mosul and 220 miles north-east of Bagdad.
