THE BRITISH CAPTURE OF BAGDAD.
Now that Bagdad is safely in British hands, interest centres in what the future plans of the Allies may be. The above map shows the country north of Bagdad, the all-important centre of which is Mosul, 220 miles up the Tigris. The Russians in Persia are approaching westward towards the Mosul road, their present base of operations^being the recently-captured Hamadan, which is 270 miles east of Mosul and 220 miles north-east of Bagdad.
