FOR KING AND EMPIRE.
DIED IN FRANCE. DRIVER A. XANKIVELL. A cable message has been received stating that Driver A. Nankivell, of D.A.C., N.Z.F.A., died of cebro-spinal meningitis in France on February 27.
Driver Nankivell was born at Woolston 25 years ago. He was educated at the Belfast and New Brighton Schools. He left with the 7lh Beinforcement. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the Addington Workshops, where he was much esteemed. He was a keen footballer, being a member of the St. Albans League Club. WOUNDED IN ACTION. RIFLEMAN W. L. BISHOP. Bifleman W. L. Bishop, wounded in action, left with the 12th Beinforcement. He is the son of Mr and
Mrs W. Bishop, of Staveley, in which district he was born and brought up. He is well known in the Ashburton district. Prior to his enlistment he was engaged in farming.
