POOR OF BELGIUM FUND.

A meeting of the Women's Committee of the Poor of Belgium Fund was held at the Red Cross Depot, Manchester Street, when there were present: Mesdames 11. A. Knight, Blackwell, Newell, Lavie, Anderon, Bristed, Treieaven, Misses R. Tabart, and L. V. Tabart (lion, secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames A. Boyle, B. Lane, C. W. Reid. In the absence of the president (Mrs B. Lane), Miss Tabart was voted to the chair. Miss Tabart said that before pro ceedpng to the business of the committee she would like to propose that a vote of sympathy be passed to Mrs Boyle in her recent bereavement, and rhat a letter be sent her to that effect. The teeretary reported that the recent packing for the Belgians on January 22 and 25 had resulted in six cases of new and second-hand clothing being packed and ready for shipment. This represented 1770 garments. The quality of the garments was all that could be desired, but it would be necessary to ask all donors to send complete lists in their packages and cases. By doing this much time and labour was saved by the packers in Christchurch. Mrs 11. A. Knight asked Miss R. Tabart if sheeculd report on the position the Women's Committee would take if the proposed harvest festival were held. Miss Tabart said the executive had yet to consult with other committees as to whether the festival would be continued or withdrawn for the time being. The Women's Committee was asked to express its opinion on the matter. A general discussion followed, and it was unanimously decided to await the decision of the.meeting of the executive. Mrs Lavie asked to bo relieved from her duties as collector, and the secretary said she would'undertake the duties as collector in Mrs Lavie's district.
