The Bank of England discount rate was raised from 2 per cent, to 4 per cent, on July 30, 1914, to 8 per cent, on July 31, and 10 per cent, on August 1; was on August ; fi lowered to 6 per cent., and on August 8, 1914, to 5 per cent., at which it remained until July 13, 1916, when it was raised to 6 per cent. MONEY MARKET. Short loans arc quoted at 45 per cent., ! compared with 5 per cent, last week. At this date last year the quotation was 5J per cent. Throe months' bills are quoted ft 5 9-10
