LABOUR LAWS.
N.S.W. LEGISLATION. PROPOSED ALTERATIONS. fiu Cable.—Press A ssociation.—( 'on/right. (Hcceived December 9, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 9. Speaking at Wagga, Mr J. Beeby (New South Wales Minister of Labour and Industry), said the present industrial laws were a failure, and that the Government would he forced to repeal them, and fix a living wage. It would leave the adjustment .of conditions above that minimum to bargaining, with the maintenance of the machinery of voluntary conciliation and arbitration. Many trades showed a tendency to restrict their output, and the present industrial laws were reducing the incentive to greater efficiency. It was the intention of the Government lo make unions, not individuals, responsible for strikes.
