FOR KING AND EMPIRE.
PRIVATE D. HAMPTON. Private David Hampton, killed in action on November ti, was the eldest son of Mr 1). Hampton, Rata Street, Hiccarton. He was born in Christchurch, and was educated at
the Sydenham and Culverden schools. Up to the time of his enlistment with the Fourteenth Reinforcement he was assisting his father on his sheep run at the Culverden homestead. He was a keen sport, and took a great interest in local affairs. He was twenty years of age at the time of his death.
