PATRIOTIC FUND.

EXPLAINING THE OBJECTS. With the view of explaining its objects fully, the Canterbury Patriotic, Fund Executive has issued a pamphlet setting out fully the aims and work of the fund. It is hoped that by these means the executive may be assisted in its endeavour to sympathetically administer to the necessities and mitigate the lot of the North Canterbury soldiers and their dependents with the funds furnished by the public. "It is perhaps well to remind the public," states the pamphlet, "that, although no continuous active effort is being made to supplement the funds already' subscribed, it is probable that if the I war is unduly protracted the funds in the hands of the society may be quite inadequate for the necessities of the; soldiers and their dependents, and con- \ sequently subscriptions are still solicit-! Ed, and will be gratefully received." The pamphlet sets out fully the procedure followed by those seeking assistance, and gives particulars of the various ways in which relief is granted.! Details are also given of the society's' work in financing returned soldiers who) wish to start on the land, set up in bnsi- ! nesa, etc.
