MEMORIAL TABLET.

UNVEILED AT HIGH SCHOOL. THE LATE ME T. H. JACKSON. A memorial tablet was unveiled yesterday at the Bpys' High School, in memory of the late Mr T. H. Jackson, formerly a master of Ihe school. The tablet contained the following inscription; —"in affectionate memory of T. 11. Jackson, B.A. (London), born at Ballymere, Countv Antrim, Nov. 19. ISO 4. A master of this school 1894-1916. Died dune 30, 1916. A cultured gentleman, A loyal colleague, a sympathetic master, and an unselfish friend." The cost of the tablet was subscribed by the masters and the Old Boys' Association, and is erected outside Mr Jackson's classroom. Mr Bevan Brown, the headmaster, stated that he had had numerous letters from old boys. Some were from boys at the front, and all expressed regret at the death of Mr Jackson, who was the friend of all of them. Mr Brown read extracts from several of the letters, which contained nothing but appreciation of Mr Jackson's character. The headmaster stated that Mr Jackson took a prominent, part in all departments of the school's activities. His personality, he said, was one of he binding links of the school's society. Speaking for himself, Mr Brown said that Air Jackson had been his colleague for 22 years, and he deeply regretted his loss. Mr W. W. Walton stated that the staff j had been of the unanimous opinion that i there should be some memorial of their (lead colleague set up in the school : building, and with the permission of i the Board of Governors the tablet: had j been procured and erected in its pres I cut position. Mr J. C. Adams, who presided, un j veiled the tablet, and stated that he had Known Mr Jackson for a number of years, and had found him a thorough ! gentleman.
