AMBERLEY CARNIVAL. The position to <l;ito of the candidates in the Queen contest for the Amberley Carnival, to he held on Anniversary Day, December 16, is as follows: Amberley Queen, Miss Jean Dighton ] Braekenfield Queen, "Miss Molly Watson '. 2 Broomfield Queen, Miss Rata McLean 3 The total amount secured during the first week of the contest is £3l. A very successful euchre party and dance in aid of the Amberley Queen's candidature was held on Wednesday evening. The amount raised was about £ls, which included £8 from the sale of prizes that were returned by the winners, and were sold by auction by Mr Bruce. It was announced that Mr G. D. Grimmond had consented to open the carnival, and that Mr Sutton had donated a flag to be sold, the amount raised by the sale to be placed to the credit of the Braekenfield Queen. GEBBIE'S VALLEY AND MOTTJKARARA. During the quarter ending November 30, the Gebbie's Valley ami Motukarara Guild Ims sent away the following articles:—To the Red Cross Depot: 23 shirts, 11 underpants, 16 pairs socks, 21 pairs pyjamas, 1 surgical nightshirt, 6 vests, 6 bed jackets, 7 treasure bags. 32 medicine cloths, 30 face cloths, 30 diet cloths, and 3 parcels old linen. To the Liverpool Depot: 78 pairs socks, 1 balaclava cap, 5 pairs mittens and 2 pairs cuffs. Thanks are due to Mrs Bowlev for the gift of 3 pairs socks, to Mrs Harbison for 3 pairs socks, and to the following children for making socks, mittens. cuffs, and face cloths:— Phyllis Radford, Kvor Eden, Jimniie, Freddie, and Cliffie Radford. The following donations have also been received:—For guild work: Riile Club Social (per Mr A. E. Harris), £1; Mrs Dingwall, £1; .Mrs J. C. C.ebbie, 3/6, Friend, ]/-; collected by Patriotic Committee, £25. For Red Cross ("Our Day" Self-denial Fund): Mrs Dingwall, ->/-; the .Misses Ethel and Eva Wright and Henry Wright, 2/-; Mrs J. C.
