CABINET CRISIS
RESIGNATION OF MINISTERS
MESSRS ASQUITH AND LLOYD GEORGE WITHDRAW FATE OF BUCHAREST GERMANS ON BORDERS OF RICH OIL DISTRICTS FURTHER SERBIAN SUCCESSES IN MACEDONIA ) As a result of the political crisis the Prime Minister (Mr H. H. Asquith) and the Minister of War (Mr Lloyd George) have resigned from the British Cabinet. The crisis is attracting widespread attention, and it is clear that there is a good deal more t hind it than a mere clash of personalities. Some Minister favour the most energetic prosecution of the war, whil<, others hold that the depletion of the ranks of industry to swell the Army would render the Empire unable to meet its war expenditure. There is much speculation as to how the Cabinet will be reconstructed. The situation in Rumania is very black, and it seems ceitain that Bucharest must fall. The Germans have captured huge stores of foodstuffs, and are on the borders of the great oil fields of Northern Wallachia, where 1,000,000 tons of benzine is stored. The Serbians continue to make good progress in Macedona.
