JUDGMENT SUMMONSES.

DEBTORS IN EXPLANATION. To-day was judgment summons day at the Magistrate's Court, when Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided over the sitting. CONDONING AN OFFENCE. Campbell Bros. (Mr Dougall) asked for an order against Charles Henry Laseelles, tor the payment of £ls 18/10. The creditor alleged that the debt had been contracted by fraud. Charles Henry Laseelles said he was a canvasser. He denied obtain-} ing the sacks, the subject of the debt, from the creditor, by falsely representing that he was purchasing them; for the New Zealand Farmers' Cooperative Association, Ltd. Colin Campbell, one of the credi-! tors, said that when Laseelles pur-! chassed the sacks there was some haggling about the price. Laseelles, said he would see the Farmers' Co-j operative Association and ascertain j if it would agree to the price. Sub- j sequently, Laseelles returned, and I l said the Farmers' Co-op. would ac- j cept the price. He then signed an! invoice on behalf of the Co-op. The! invoice had been handed to a detective, but no criminal proceedings: were taken as £8 had been paid on! i account to stop the matter going l | further. | "Well, I've no sympathy with you,"i said the Magistrate. Mr Thomas: I understand he has not yet been passed by the medical people. His solicitor, Mr Alpers, told me this. Mr Bishop: Oil, in that case, I will make an order.
