RUMANIA'S PERIL.

A MESSAGE AT LAST. LITTLE LIGHT ON POSITION. A. and S.Z. Cable Association and Renter. LONDON, November 23. A Rumanian communique, undated, throws no light on the position at Craiova. It reports:—"Violent enemy attacks have occurred on the Cerna, near Orsova. "We have fortified ourselves in captured positions at Dragoslavele, while in the Alt Valley there have been infantry actions in the centre and bombardments on the left wing. "We have withdrawn from the Jiul Vallev, and now occupy our old positions." A RAY OF HOPE. ARMIES MAY BE SAVED. "The. Times'' Service. LONDON, November 24. Colonel Repington, the military critic of "The Times," thinks that the situation in Rumania is less black than it apepars to be. The Orsova army, he says, has probably escaped to the east of the Vulcan Pass. Other passes have not been forced, and therefore there is no reason why the western armies should not retreat without being broken. SITUATION REVIEWED. AN INTERESTING ANALOGY. Australian una" N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, November 24. M. Bidou, the military critic of the "Journal des Debats," compares General.von Falkenbayn's advance on Craiova to General von Kluck's movements towards Paris, and points out that the Germans, not having sufficient men, are leaving a blank between their armies which are thus exposed to an allied attack. FALL OF CRAIOVA. ROLLING STOCK CAPTURED. A. and X.Z. Cable Association and Renter. LONDON, November 23. A German communique says:— The booty taken at Craiova included 300 railway carriages.
