TECHNICAL SCHOOL BOARD. From Our Own Correspondent. The Technical School Board met on Friday, Mr H. Davis, presiding. There were also present:—Messrs C. Beid, J. Tucker, J. Bothwiek, T. Haves, S. Schneider, W. F. Watters, and W. T. Lill. The chairman reported a credit balance of £l2ll 15s 6d. The Executive Committee's report which was adopted, set out that it had gone carefully into the matter of utilising the services of an agricultural instructor from Christehurch for one day a week, and recommended that the following reply be sent to the Christchurch Technical College:—"That the present number of students attending for agriculture do not warrant us engaging the services of an outside instructor, but if there is sufficient increase in students at the beginning of next year, and if the cost is not prohibitive, we may be glad to avail ourselves of your offer. Please let us known the cost of services for one day a week." It was recommended that the position of commercial mistress be advertised at a salary of £l5O per annum on the usual conditions. Messrs W. G. Hillier and F. Pawson, were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. Accounts totalling £139 4s Gd, were passed for payment.

Mr Lloyd is to judge the light horses, and Mr Shearer tho draughts, at the show. Mrs H. Styles, Cox Street, Ashburton, 'has received advice that her grandson, i Private H.
