AUCKLAND MORALITY.
MANY RUINED GIRLS. STRAIGHT TALK BY MAGISTRATE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 17. Strong remarks regarding the lack of parental control of young girls were made in a case in the Police Court to-day, when it was alleged that a taxi-cab driver had been responsible for ruining a number of girls whom he gave joy rides to in his car. The probation officer said it was deplorable the number of ruined young girls in the city. He had met numerous cases where relatives had sought his aid for girls whom the Queen Street Friday and Saturday nighi parades had ruined. He advocated women police. The Magistrate said the age of consent was the whole trouble. The question of the supervision of girls was certainly becoming prominent, and it made one think some action was necessary. In regard to the man referred to, the Magistrate advocated tar and feathers, and a good hiding.
