Sergt.-Major G. E. Billsou, who was formerly iu charge of the Municipal Baths, and will leave with the next Reinforcement draft, was met by his friends on Tuesday, and presented with a wristlet compass and an electric torch. Sergt.-Major E. Stout, son of Mr \V. Stout, of Invercargill, has. according to advice received recently, been appointed to the rank of lieutenant. Lieut. Stout went through the Gallipoli campaign, winning his promotion step bv step.

Mr Kenneth Spooner. sou of Mr .1. Spooner, of Avonside, has been accepted by the Imperial authorities for service in the Motor Boat Patrol. Mr Spooner, who has been in the employ of Messrs Andersons, Ltd., for the past three years, passed the recent engineering examination at Canterbury College, with honours. He leaves for Knglaud on the 15th inst. to report for duty.
