PIGEON FLYING.

The C.hristchurch Homing Pigeon Society flew oil' u race for yearlings from Parnassus last Saturday, The birds, which were in the wire of the stationmastcr, were liberated at '!,:> p.m. in calm weather, with the sky slightly overcast. As the birds ncared home an easterly wind was blowing, which enabled the birds to put up fair times. The race proved to lie fairly close, only .'liniii Msec dividing the first and last birds. The winner proved to be Mr F. Kingsford's black Dax, which Hew the distance of ?,! miles llfillyds air line in Hi a I mill .'lscc.
