RUGBY UNION.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union met last evening, when there were present: Messrs F. T. Evans (president), C. Evans, A. E. Byrne, A. Dey, K. W. Britten, S. F. Wilson. ('. Buchanan, F. D. Kcsteven, W. B. Fuller, A. McPhail, and G. Dobbs. CORBETT BENEFIT FUND. The chairman reported that the committee representing the Hibernian Society, Alarist Bros., Old Boys, and the Union, which arranged the Corbett Benefit Fund, had held a final meeting, when trustees were appointed to deal with the amount raised, about £IOO. The result had been, on the whole, entirely satisfactory. It was agreed to donate the advertising charges, £.". 8/3, to the fund. NEXT SEASON'S COMPETITIONS. The chairman said that, owing to the Military Service Act, which took men at the age of 20, conditions would possibly be entirely altered next season. lie, therefore, moved that a committee should bo set up, to consist of Messrs C. S. McCully, A. Dey, S. F. Wilson, A. McPhail, and the mover, to consider the scope and conditions of next season's competitions, and to report at a meeting in January or February. The motion was carried. MISCELLANEOUS. The secretary reported that the credit balance for the recent seven-aside competition was about £ls. It was decided to refund the Lytteiton Boy Scouts' team, which took part in the recent seven-aside competition, the train fares paid by it from Lyttelton. Till': END OF THE SEASON. The chairman paid a tribute to the work of the various sub-committees during a trying season. It would be necessary to cater more for school football, and he thought the time was opportune to give the Public. Schools Athletic Association direct representation on the committee of the union. It would result in renewed enthusiasm amongst schoolboys in the game.
