A wireless message states: —Following the Rumanians' crossing of the Danube at Rustchuk, making an envelopment of the Germans and Bulgars possible, General von Mackensen ordered the evacuation of Silistria and Turtakai. THE BULGARIAN VERSION CROSSING OF THE DANUBE ADMITTED Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 4, 11.5 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, October 3. A Bulgarian communique says:—Between Rustchuk and Turtakai the enemy, by means of boats, conveyed several battalions to our bank of the Danube. Measures are being taken to drive them off.
