IMPORTATION OF CLYDESDALE HORSES.

News has reached us that there will arrive in the Dominion next week, consigned to Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., as agents for MiWilliam Nieholls, of Trelawney Stud, near Christchurch, two of the best bred Clydesdales that have ever left Scotland. One of the consignment is the beautiful bay mare Dunure Time (37,305), purchased from Mr William Dunlop, of the Dunure Mains Stud, Ayrshire. This mare has not been exhibited by Mr Dunlop, although he regarded her as one of the best he ever had. Mr Dunlop kept her in reserve in case of anything happening to his champion mare Dunure Chosen. Dunure Time is a daughter of Mr A. M. Simpson's Whitecross stud horse High Degree (14,703), one of the best breeding sires in Scotland to-day, out of the exceptionally well bred mare Maggie 2nd of Largiemore (28,073). Dunure Time is described as a bay in colour, white face, and white legs, stands 161 hands high, with the best of feet and legs and beautiful, close, straight action. The other member of the consignment is a magnificent colt foal out of Dunure Time by the present champion stud horse in Scotland. Mr Dunlop's Dunure Footprint (15,203). This foal, we are advised, is one of the best of ibis famous horse's progeny, as may be judged from the fact that £3OO was offered for him just prior to shipment. The name of the colt is Dunure Print (18,964). Some weeks before shipment Mr Nicholl's mare again visited Dunure Footprint, and it is believed that she is in foal. If this consignment is landed safely there is no doubt it will prove a great acquisition to the Clydesdale stock of the Dominion.—"Otago Daily Times."
