Straits Settlements, and the Philippine Islands. Mr Wilkie then went to South Africa. When the war broke out the bottom fell out of the theatrical kettle, and he came on to Australia, opening in Melbourne in January last. There the present company played to great business for 11 weeks instead of six as was origi- | nally intended. After the completion j of the present tour of the Dominion \ another season of three months will ! be played in Melbourne. i THE FUTURE. As a result of his experiences in Australasia, Mr Wilkie intends to make the present company a permanent one, and to pay annual visits to the various centres.
