WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above board was held last evening, those present being: Messrs Barnard, Edmonds, Lissamau, Kevell, and Wright. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Barnard was voted to the chair.

Before commencing the ordinary business of the evening. Mr Barnard moved a vote of sympathy with the chairman of the board (Mr Doubleday) and his family in the loss of their son, Private L. 0. Doubleday, who died in Featherston.

The harbourmaster's report gave the depth of water on the bar on the 10th inst. as 10ft, which was due to freshes coming from the gull}', one after another. Two or three heavy easterly seas during the month had brought up an unusual lot of sand, and the bar had shifted further south. Heavy seas had washed the outer bar beacon away, but this had since been replaced. Below Kairaki the river was none too good, soundings showing in several places only 7ft at high water. —The report was adopted.

It was decided that the 1 Minister of Marine be asked to allow the present landing stage to be removed to the approved site for a new stage, seeing that tlie board's funds were not sufficient to allow of the expense of erecting a new stage.

The financial report showed that the receipts had been £GG'I9/2, and that the bank overdraft was. £.150 5/9. Accounts for £lO 5/- were passed for payment.
