The "Berliner TagebJatl's" correpondent, commenting on the Somme lighting, says that the Allies have an over-supply of munitions, and can afford any waste of money. "The enemy is empting all his pockets to find a way out of the war of misery. This also wc must do. Each shell means a great hope. II is undeniable that the offensive, to both sides, represents Ihe bloodiest war episode of all."
